Pig Handling Services:

Low Stress Pig Handling Workshops:

The standard workshop is 4 hours long. Topics include: Pig survival responses; recognizing fear, stress and distress and why it matters; knowing how to set up the pig responses you need for the job you are doing eg: movement in pens, moving in alleys,  doorways and obstacles, weighing, sorting, moving sows, loading for transport, single file chutes...

Workshop contents are modified to meet the needs of each group of participants, highlighting the types of animals and handling activities and situations they are most likely to deal with in their daily work. We don't just show good handling. We cover common handling problems to help handlers understand what causes problems and the actions they need to take to prevent them.

On site video can be taken and incorporated in the workshop to address needs and conditions unique to a specific workplace.

Exam and Certification:

Examination and certification accompany the Pig Handling Workshop. DNL Farms Ltd. maintains a registry of all participants who have successfully completed the workshop and exam.

Trucker Training:

In-truck video footage is used to demonstrate the causes of common handling problems and show how to simplify pig movement during loading and unloading. It is intended to reduce dependency on electric prod use and help build coordination and teamwork between truckers, loading crews, and receivers.                                                                                                                     This training deals only with moving animals and is distinct from information offered in the TQA - Transport Quality Assurance program.
